Capie Creative is the artwork of Elisha Capie and was established in 2009. Born on the Ides of March, Elisha Capie has naturally always been one for the darker side of life. In darkness you find honesty and truth, she believes, and those devils can be found in the details of her intricate works. Armed with passion and a pen, Elisha has found a medium through which to express the minute and the magnificent of the world.
Most of her work consists of illustrations, done with a fine-tipped pen, allowing the freedom to add intricate details and nuances to each piece. Created entirely by hand, many of her pieces are done on old book pages, sheet music, paperwork, or cardstock. For example; some of her pieces were illustrated on loose-leaf typewriter paperwork found in her mother’s attic, left behind by a priest in the early 1950’s and 1960’s. Commonly known as “upcycling,” she loves the idea of taking something old and beaten, battered and unloved, and creating something new with it. She always tries to align what is being created with whatever might be written on the discarded pages. This added depth leads to a fuller, more intricate piece of art.
Wider worlds waited while Elisha was growing up in the small towns of northeast Pennsylvania. Forever the local dreamer, Elisha sought to create her own adventures in mind and ink, adventures not so easily found in these charcoal cities. Her passionate heart and lust for life led her to many new places, though, places that furthered her dreams and schemes, and she seeks to portray them in her work.
Having lived abroad and about, Elisha has worked with some tremendously creative minds. From creatures to teachers, peers to seers, Elisha has always found something to learn from everyone she’s met. The world is an amalgamation of experiences, and she hopes to spend her days collecting those experiences.
Aesthetic throughout, Elisha believes in art for the sake of art.
